The terms for applications, personal matching, introductions, and placement support. Last updated: 28 August 2026.
Please read these terms before applying or paying a fee. Important price, cancellation, refund, and country-programme terms will also be shown before you make the relevant payment or placement commitment. If you have questions, contact us before proceeding.
These terms apply when you visit our website, create an account, submit an application, ask us to find or introduce a possible match, or use our placement support. In these terms, “Christian Au Pairs”, “Christian Au Pairs International”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the Christian Au Pairs service operated from the United Kingdom by Mark and Diana Jeffery. “You” means the family member, au pair applicant, or other person using the service.
Creating an account or submitting an application includes a non-binding acknowledgement of these website terms and the Privacy Policy. It is not a contract for paid matching or placement services, and does not oblige us to accept an application, find a match, or make an introduction. Paid commitments arise only at the later stages described below. If a country programme, written quote, invoice, or placement agreement contains additional terms, those specific terms also apply. We will draw any important difference to your attention before you pay or commit.
Christian Au Pairs provides a personal Christian matching, introduction, and support service. We are not a public database and we do not simply give applicants unrestricted access to one another. Our work may include:
We use experience and the information available to us to make thoughtful introductions, but compatibility is personal and cannot be guaranteed. We do not guarantee that we will accept an application, find a match by a particular date, make a placement, obtain a visa, or ensure that a placement lasts for its planned duration.
Eligibility and immigration rules can change. Website guidance and eligibility tools are a starting point only. You must confirm current passport, visa, immigration, employment, tax, insurance, driving, safeguarding, and programme requirements with the relevant authority or qualified adviser before paying non-refundable third-party costs or travelling.
You must provide information that is accurate, complete, current, and not misleading. You must promptly tell us if relevant circumstances change. This includes changes affecting:
You are responsible for keeping your account and sign-in details secure and for activity carried out through your account. Tell us promptly if you believe an account or document has been accessed without permission.
We may ask for identity documents, photos, church and character references, childcare references, background checks, medical or health information, interviews, and other evidence reasonably needed to assess suitability or support a placement. We may pause or end an application where requested information is not supplied, cannot reasonably be verified, or raises a material eligibility or safeguarding concern.
We decide which profiles to introduce based on the information available, including faith and church context, childcare needs and experience, location, timing, duties, family life, personality, and stated preferences. An introduction is an opportunity for both parties to ask questions and make their own decision; neither party has to accept it.
Profiles, photos, references, contact details, and family or child information shared during matching are confidential. You may use them only to consider and manage the proposed placement. You must not publish them, share them with unrelated people, use them to recruit for somebody else, or retain them after we ask you to delete them.
You must not use an introduction made by Christian Au Pairs to arrange a placement privately for yourself, a friend, or another family without our knowledge. If you wish to proceed with an introduced person, tell us so that the placement can be recorded and the relevant support, checks, and fees can be dealt with properly.
Fees vary by destination, applicant type, service stage, placement length, and local programme. Before a payment becomes due, we will provide or point you to the applicable fee schedule or written quote, including the amount, currency, payment stage, and what the fee covers. Current country guidance may show indicative fees, but the price confirmed to you before payment is the price that applies.
Fees may be charged in stages, for example for registration or application review, interview and document work, and final matching or placement arrangements. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, an invoice is payable by the date shown on it and any final placement fee must be paid before the placement begins. You are responsible for bank, currency conversion, travel, visa, medical, insurance, background-check, training, and other third-party costs unless we expressly say they are included.
A family application fee is non-refundable once paid. Payment allows Christian Au Pairs to begin matching work, but we do not promise to find or arrange a match within a particular timeframe. We record the family's acknowledgement and payment date.
After a family and au pair choose one another, each party must affirmatively accept the applicable placement terms and pay the matching fee due from that party. That party and Christian Au Pairs become contractually bound when both acceptance and payment are recorded. The match is fully effective when both parties have accepted and paid, subject to the two-week break-off period set out in the placement terms.
If you buy a service online as a consumer, you may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days. If you ask us to begin work during that period, we may charge a reasonable amount for work supplied before you cancel. If the service is fully performed during the cancellation period after you expressly ask us to start and acknowledge the effect on your cancellation right, that right may end. Nothing in these terms reduces a cancellation or refund right given to you by law.
Outside any legal cancellation right, whether a fee can be refunded or credited depends on the service stage, the work already completed, costs already committed, why the application or placement ended, and the specific refund or replacement terms given before payment. Registration, assessment, interview, document, and matching work already carried out will not normally be refundable merely because you change your mind or reject a suitable introduction, but we will not retain more than is fair in the circumstances.
Contact us as soon as possible if you wish to cancel. We will explain any work completed, credit, replacement support, deduction, or refund that applies. A refund or credit is not a promise that another suitable match will be available.
A host family is responsible for:
An au pair applicant is responsible for:
Before travel, the family and au pair should confirm the principal placement details in writing, including dates, duties, hours, pocket money or pay, room and meals, time off, holidays, travel, insurance, driving, notice, and any country-specific programme rules. Those placement terms are between the family and au pair, or may form part of a separate regulated programme agreement. Christian Au Pairs is not the au pair’s employer and does not direct day-to-day work unless a country-specific written agreement expressly says otherwise.
USA journeys may involve the separate Christian Au Pairs USA website, a designated programme sponsor, local agents, or other providers. Their terms and charges may apply in addition to these terms. Airlines, insurers, visa authorities, background-check providers, schools, payment providers, and other third parties supply their own services under their own terms. We are not responsible for a third party’s decision or failure where we have used reasonable care in selecting and dealing with that provider.
Both parties should contact us promptly if expectations change, communication breaks down, a placement may end early, or there is a welfare or safeguarding concern. We will listen, help clarify the situation, and consider reasonable support such as a conversation, revised expectations, or a possible rematch.
A rematch depends on eligibility, cooperation, the circumstances in which the placement ended, and the availability of a suitable family or au pair. It is not guaranteed. In an emergency or where anybody may be at immediate risk, contact the local emergency services or relevant safeguarding authority first, then tell us as soon as it is safe to do so.
We may pause an application, withhold an introduction, end matching or support, or withdraw from a placement where there is a serious or repeated breach of these terms; non-payment; abusive, discriminatory, dishonest, unsafe, illegal, or inappropriate conduct; a safeguarding concern; a loss of eligibility; or a failure to cooperate with reasonable checks or support steps.
Where practical and safe, we will explain the concern and give a reasonable opportunity to respond. We may act immediately where this is needed to protect a child or adult, preserve confidentiality, comply with law, or prevent fraud or serious harm. Ending our service does not remove fees fairly due for work already completed or either party’s obligations under a separate placement agreement.
We will provide our service with reasonable care and skill. Families and au pairs remain responsible for deciding whether to proceed with an introduction and for their own conduct, home, travel, documents, and compliance with law. We do not control participants’ day-to-day actions and are not responsible for loss caused by a participant or third party where that loss was not caused by our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for losses that neither we nor you could reasonably foresee when the contract began, or for business losses where you use the service mainly for personal purposes. We do not exclude or limit responsibility where it would be unlawful to do so, including responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or breach of rights that the law does not allow us to exclude.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, store, and protect account, application, reference, family, child, health, faith, safeguarding, and placement information. By using the service, you acknowledge that this processing is necessary for the purposes described there. Where the law requires consent for particular information or activity, we will ask for it separately.
The website, brand, forms, guidance, and original content belong to us or our licensors. You may use them for your own application or placement but must not copy, scrape, republish, sell, or use them to operate a competing service. You must not misuse the website, attempt unauthorised access, upload harmful material, or interfere with another person’s account or information.
If you are unhappy with our service, please contact us with your name, application or placement details, what happened, and the outcome you are seeking. We will acknowledge the complaint and aim to give a considered response within a reasonable time. Raising a complaint does not affect your legal rights.
We may update these terms for future applications or services when the law, website, programme, or matching process changes. The terms in force when we accept a paid instruction will continue to govern that instruction unless a change is required by law or you agree to it. We will bring any material change affecting an active service to your attention.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you keep any mandatory protections given by the law of your home country and may be entitled to bring proceedings in your local courts. We will first try to resolve any disagreement directly and fairly.
