When do I pay?
The programme fee is due only after you have accepted a match with a host family.
What if I don’t get matched?
If we cannot find you a suitable match, you will not be charged the programme fee.

Applying, interviewing and meeting potential families are free. Your Christian Au Pairs placement fee is due only after you choose a host family.

Once you choose a family, your placement fee becomes due and you complete final visa, travel and arrival preparation.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the application process take?
It really depends on you and how fast you are getting your paperwork together. It can be as little as two months but most au pairs plan up to a year ahead because it is much easier if you are also studying.
Do I pay my own travel?
You normally pay your travel to and from Australia. The family may contribute and should help agree onward travel.
How much will the family pay me?
The final arrangement is agreed between family and au pair. Christian Au Pairs currently recommends AUD $250 for 25 hours, AUD $300 for 30 hours and AUD $350 for 35 hours.
What if I need to drive?
If driving is required for your duties, the family pays programme-related petrol and insurance and must make sure you can drive safely in the UK.
Will I get paid holiday?
The working policy provides five paid days after six months and ten working days for a full year, subject to the agreed arrangement.
What if things don't work out?
If you do need to end your arrangement early, the policy is to give two weeks' notice. Contact Christian Au Pairs before making replacement or travel arrangements. We are here to support you.
Do you accept Catholics?
Yes! We work with all mainstream protestant and catholic denominations.
Can you help me find a good church?
Yes we can! One of the things we try to do is find the best church suitable for each individual au pair as everyone has different expectations and desires. We want everybody to be fully involved and happy in the church they join.
Current Australian visa and employment rules matter
Nationality eligibility, visa conditions and applicable employment rules can change. Christian Au Pairs confirms the family-side placement details, but your own visa eligibility must be checked against the current Australian Department of Home Affairs requirements before a placement is finalised.
